Why Ordinary Photographers Can’t Be X Ray Technicians

Have you seen an x ray technologist in action? The work seems easy and fast, right? Since it looks like a simple photography job, can photographers work as X ray technologists? Photographers can be X ray technologists if they have finished at least a two-year associate degree in radiology and has passed the licensure examinations.

The job of an x ray technician is not as simple as it looks. Any imaging procedure is based on a doctor’s order which states the part of the body to be X rayed. To understand the doctor’s order, the x ray technician must know medical terminology. Without the correct understanding of medical terminology, some words in the instruction will be foreign to the x ray technician. So how will the technician work if he or she can’t understand what the doctor wants? The study of medical terminology is one of the topics that those who want to be X ray technologists must learn so they can correctly understand what most of the hospital staff are saying.
